Caring about your health constitutes diabetes prevention. But don’t fret if you already have received a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis because treatment is within the same scope. Both treatment and prevention are not beyond you.

The consequences of neglecting your health, however, are unfortunately relevant if you take your well-being for granted. It may not be clear to you, but you do have a choice in all of this. Some Type 2 diabetics think their disease is out of their control – that it must have somehow fallen upon them. But Type 2 diabetes is almost entirely self-inflicted. So if you had a part to play in its development, you could still influence it today, even if it has been present in your body for years.

The tragedy in all of this is not necessarily being a victim to Type 2 diabetes. Misfortune may occur no matter what some of us do. The real shame is in doing little or nothing when the risk is real, and there is an opportunity to set things straight. By caring for your health, you will make the most of your situation. You will improve your circumstances. This is essential because the consequences of neglecting your well-being can be deadly.
